Male Version of Ris Low - found

Hu Hanxiong...

Meet "the male version of Ris Low". That's what some netizens on file-sharing site YouTube and citizen journalism site Stomp are calling this Singaporean.

He's Hu Hanxiong, Mr Singapore World 2010.

The 25-year-old events organiser is being slammed online for his poor English in a self-introduction video for the Mr World finals held on March 27 in Incheon, Korea.

The video was first uploaded on the pageant's website, but has since found its way to YouTube, where it has been viewed more than 8,000 times, and Stomp, where it received more than 5,000 hits.

Low, you'll remember, was crowned Miss Singapore World last year but had to relinquish her crown after it was discovered that she had been convicted of credit card fraud.

She was flamed for her bad English and for using nonsensical words like "boomz".

Netizens who compared Hu to Low were particularly caustic about his poor pronunciation.

Hu began his video by saying: "Harrow everybody, I'm Hanxiong, twenty-fise years of age..."

Other boo-boos include pronouncing basketball as "buttsketball", and saying "I love any sports that leads me to a healthy lifespou..."and "warming hospitality".

Netizens also jeered at how often Hu blinked his eyes in the video, with one claiming he blinked more than 65 times in the 30-second clip.

When The New Paper contacted Hu over the phone at work, he called the video "tragic".

He had first seen the clip when he was competing in Korea and wished he could record it again.

He is aware of the brickbats on YouTube.

Sounding light-hearted throughout the interview, he added: "While I was waiting for my turn to film the video clip, I had prepared in my head what I was going to say.

"I wanted to talk about how I prepared for the competition, and how much I loved Korea.

"But when I sat down to do the video, the producers (from the UK) told me that I only needed to give my name, age, where I was from and my hobbies."

He confessed that he got nervous and tongue-tied.

It was hard to fill up those 30 seconds, he said. Hu, who was unplaced in the finals, also didn't want to do a second take like some of the other pageant contestants allegedly did.

"The producers had spent the whole day filming and they weren't in a very good mood. I wanted to make Singapore proud by going for just one take.

"I didn't want them to think that Singaporeans can't speak proper English," he admitted.

When asked about the excessive blinking in the video that netizens complained about, he explained that there were several strong spotlights shining on him during filming, which made his eyes very dry.

He admitted that he was initially upset by the harsh comments, but he has learnt to take things lightly.

"Everyone has their point of view and I can still accept their criticism," he said.

"They don't know me and I can't tell every one of them that I'm not that bad in real life."

During the interview, even though Hu's English was occasionally ungrammatical , he spoke confidently and conveyed his thoughts well enough.

Hu said he barely spoke English in school and was more fluent in Mandarin.

On being called Mr Ris Low, Hu said he thought it was funny, especially because they are friends. They met when she took part in Miss Singapore World last year

Dumb ex-beauty queen does it again! Ris Low's April Fool Joke

Ris Low’s appearance on 98.7fm an April Fool’s Joke!
aaronpeng wrote:

To update you on my last post about Ris Low being part of 98.7fm, it seems that this has turned out to be one big April Fool’s Joke!

It was announced yesterday (010410) during the Shan and Ross show.
As I’m not an avid listener of 98.7fm and I told myself not to listen to them since Ms Ris Low was part of it, I missed the announcement.

So does that mean that Ris Low will not be in 98.7fm anymore?

I sure hope so.

Incidentally, people have been flocking to the FaceBook group to remove Riz Low from 98.7fm and numbers have since reached 9,926!

Tsk, this shows her popularity with Singaporeans doesn’t it?

Someone please remove her from the media glare… permanently pwease!

Yes, it's Ris Low grabbing the headlines again!

The dethroned Miss Singapore World has again made herself the centre
of attention when she received a warning letter for being two hours
late on her first day at work.

Low was offered a one-year contract to be a deejay on 98.7FM in
Singapore. She is joining Shan Wee and Rosalyn Lee to host the Shan &
Rozz Show from 4pm to 8pm on weekdays.

On Monday, which was her first day at work, Low only showed up at
6.02pm, according to Shinmin Daily.

She apologised to the listeners and said she thought 1600 hours was
6pm.

"It was raining, I was having my hair done in a salon in a shopping
complex, I was too comfortable and fell asleep," she said.

In an interview with the daily later, Low said she had received a
warning letter for being late.

The letter also reminded her that the company would take action
against her if she came in late again and that she could be sacked.

Low explained that she has always been punctual for work.

"I will not be late again," she said.

A message in her blog, titled First Day at Work - was LATE!, Low
wrote: "I thought I saw 1600hrs as 600hrs. So I came in on time. Not
my fault that the contract weren't clear enough.

"How could they blame me for it... I have a valid reason!"

Ris Low's breasts exposed in public

Dethroned Miss Singapore World Ris Low's tube dress was pulled down by a man and as a result her breasts were exposed in public.

Low wrote about the incident in her blog on Wednesday.

"Then Lao Niang got molested! Son of a bitch xxxx (vulgarities)! He pulled down my tube in front of a taxi stand queue la! I told him off and he ran away. Regret keeping that kick I have from Muay Thai. Sigh."

Later in an interview with Lianhe Wanbao, Low said she was waiting for her boyfriend at a taxi stand on Tuesday night when she noticed a man, who was standing in front, starring at her.

"I ignored him but five minutes later he turned around and grabbed my left hand. Then, he asked me to kiss him," she said.

Low said the man, in his 30s, then pulled down her tube dress and her breasts were exposed as she did not wear a bra.

She said another man immediately went to her aid and the "molester" ran away.

She lodged a police report the next day.

Low, who had bruises on her left hand, also wrote in the blog: "Was crying like a stupid emotion full baby mad hell and Date was patient enough to calm me down."

Ris Low claims to have been molested in blog

SINGAPORE: Former beauty queen Ris Low has written in an expletive-laden blog entry dated March 17 that a man had pulled down her strapless dress while she was in a taxi queue outside Park Mall.

"I told him off and he ran away. Regret keeping that kick I have from Muay Thai," wrote Low, who had been taking Muay Thai kickboxing lessons for the past four months.

The 20-year-old, who models part time while studying for a diploma at the Management Development Institute of Singapore, wrote that she broke into tears after the incident. She only stopped after she was comforted by her 31-year-old property agent boyfriend.

Low, who suffers from bipolar disorder, reportedly felt very indignant and reported the matter to the police last Wednesday.

She also posted a 37-second video on her blog that same day, in which she urged molest victims to confront their molester and vowed to seek retribution against the man who molested her.

Most Netizens were skeptical of Low's blog posts and believed the whole thing to be a publicity stunt.

"I suspect that she wants to hog the limelight, to be famous in order to get more assignments," wrote digitalman on Channelnewsasia.com's forum page.

Others were more sympathetic towards Low.

"The public should learn to exercise sympathy over her [Ris Low's] plight and understand the ordeal she went through," said TooFree on sgforums.com.

Low, who attends classes at the Academy of Certified Counsellors, told The New Paper that she blogged about it in the hopes of "getting witnesses to step forward" and to tell victims of rape or molest "that they shouldn't suffer in silence" despite being wary of a public backlash.

Low's molest case is the latest in a string of incidents that have gotten Netizens talking about the former beauty queen, who just revealed on her blog on Sunday that she was also bisexual.

She attracted public attention in January for becoming the spokesperson for a condom brand Espire and appearing in a controversial video that saw her slipping condoms on bananas of various sizes.

Low also drew flak last year for speaking poor English and lost her Miss Singapore World crown, after news of her conviction for credit card fraud surfaced. She has been under a 24-month probation for her crime since May 2009.

Watch how Ris Low wear a condom for you

Singapore’s influential celebrity, Ris Low, has captured our imagination again.

WATCH HER VIDEO ACT HERE....

The former Miss Singapore World 2009 recently made a video with Clicknetwork promoting safe sex. Ris Low donned a bikini and demonstrated the technique of putting on condoms... with bananas.

Unfortunately, Espire company (Ris Low is the brand spokesperson for Espire condom) did not think too highly of this video.

The company felt that the video made Ris Low look silly, and it affects the image which they are trying to portray for their brand. As we know, things are never straightforward with Ris Low. In a surprising twist, she claimed that Espire knew about the video and were “fine” with it.

I don't know who is telling the truth but do check out the video and see if Ris Low looks silly or not.

Ris Low confirmed she is still a Virgin

Diva
Ris Low reacts to claims that she is sexually active

Ever since news broke on earlier this week that Ris Low has been
appointed as the spokesperson for condom brand, Espire, she's been
accused of having a sexually active sex life, reported Lianhe Wanbao.

However, she clarified that she's very particular when sex is
involved. Since her Mr. Right is not in her life yet, naturally, she
is still a virgin, the ex-beauty queen told the Chinese newspaper.

According to the same publication, her rationale for accepting the 4-
figure endorsement was to spread the message of practising safe sex
habits.

Ris, who was once an intern practitioner in a clinic, said she
witnessed a 9-year-old child accompanied by her parents opting for the
HIV test. On another occasion, a 15-year-old teenager had contracted
AIDS because of his promiscuity.

Ris said: "While we can't stop teenagers from engaging in sexual
activities, we can educate them the proper way to protect themselves."

Although she is inexperienced with the usage of a condom, she did her
own research and tests to ensure the reliability of the product.

According to Lianhe Wanbao, she filled about 500ml of water into a
condom to test its durability. She apparently also wore the condom
over her hands, rubbed it vigorously, only to feel a warm sensation.

my paper reported that Ris is currently working as a part-time as a
clinic assistant at an Aids clinic to hone her skills as condom
ambassador. She spends three days a week counselling patients and
teaching them how to use condoms correctly.

She told RazorTV in a live interview: "I want to tell them (youths) to
be responsible for their own actions and to know that unwanted
pregnancies can be prevented, and safe sex can be pleasurable as
well."

Despite her infamy of poor English and credit card frauds, does the
former Miss Singapore World think herself worthy?

Ris had this to say: "I think I'm very much qualified becos I can
reach out to the youths out there.

"Being a youth myself, there's no age gap and I can relate to them
easily."

When RazorTV asked about whether she thinks she is the suitable
candidate for the role, Ris said: "I think this has nothing to do with
my credit card fraud and ethics because, afterall, you grow up from
what you've done wrong and you change. So I don't think people should
penalise me for that."

She added that: "I am responsible for my own actions. I did my
probation and served the terms.

"I think I am responsible and matured enough to take up this role as
ambassador."

Although, she made the cover of the December issue of FHM, and is now
Espire's spokesperson, Ris rejects the idea of being a "sex" symbol,
reported Lianhe Wanbao.

SHE gave up her crown three months ago after her credit card
conviction came to light.

Now, former Miss Singapore Ris Low is eyeing a comeback - as a beauty
pageant organiser.

The 19-year-old, who sparked a nationwide uproar earlier this year
with her poor diction, is on the hunt for sponsors for an as-yet-
unnamed three-in-one beauty pageant.

Last week, she sent out an e-mail to potential sponsors, like malls
and event organisers, spelling out details for the proposed event in
the middle of next year.

The selling point, she wrote, is that three winners will be crowned at
the same event - a Miss Singapore, Mr Singapore and Mrs Singapore.

Nevermind that all three titles are currently being used by other
pageants, Ms Low is confident her 'grand national event' will be a
hit.

She's a flop because she's unwilling to accept defeat. So Shingz.

on the contrary, give her a support and chance, perhaps suprise
complete make over learning from past experience. everyone deserve a
chance to excel. after all her future is holding by her hand.

Her "never-say-die" attitude is admirable, for an intellectually
disabled person.

Remember. She could have been your daughter.

The digital edition of the Straits Times has labelled one of the photos of ex-Miss Singapore World 2009 Miss Ris Low as “sg-stupid.jpg”!

The Straits Times has been conducting a media witch-hunt on Ris Low and the organizer of the pageant ERM World since SPH journalists dug out her past conviction last Friday.

To ensure that Straits Times does not try to wriggle its way out by changing the name of the photo later, we have taken a snapshot here:

Singaporeans are generally selfish and will not hesitate to kill one another. That's true in every workplace, and epitomised in Miss Low's case. She is undone by her own Singaporeans.

In 2 of my 7 previous jobs, I have to resigned because cannot put up with Singaporean women bosses.

It is only in the other jobs under Filipinos, Chinese and Indonesian, that I discovered lots of human touch and care. Maybe because they had a hard time getting to where they are, and so appreciate people who try hard and help to nurture them. Failure is the beginning to more success is what they hope to achieve for their staff, and you feel really obligated not to disappoint them the next time you had the chance.

Why Ris Low is better than the MP's

From: Masturbating Myself

Local: Wed, Sep 30 2009 11:56 am
Subject: Why Ris Low is better than the MP's

At the very least, she had the courage to resign for the sake of
Singapore unlike some public officials who still linger on shamelessly
at the expense of taxpayers despite making horrendous, unforgivable
mistakes.

Faced with increasing public pressure and backlash over her past
conviction for credit card fraud, Miss World Singapore Ris Low backs
out of finals in Johannesburg, South Africa in December this year.

The organizer of the pageant, ERM World will announce a new
representative shortly. It had told the state media earlier that it
would be seeking legal advice on the matter.

ERM World said it has met Ms Low and her parents and ‘they have agreed
to allow their daughter to resign from the crown as we feel is in the
best interest for the Miss Singapore World Pageant and Singapore at
large’.

On Ms Low’s conviction in May and her bipolar disorder, ERM said there
was no way of checking if a contestant has a criminal record or
suffering from depression.

‘Ris Low was determined, well behaved and performed well throughout
the 2 month competition and even went on to win eight special awards.
This is not easy task to accomplish from a group of 22 contestants.
With her good performance and beauty, she excelled in the
competition.’

ERM said it felt sorry for Miss Low but added: ‘We cannot compromise
on our contest rules, regulations and the image of the Miss Singapore
World Pageant.’

The embattled Miss Low had attracted controversy since her crowning
first with her sub-par command of the English language followed by the
sensational relevation that she was convicted in May on charges of
credit card fraud and is currently on probation.

While the majority of Singaporeans had called for her to be stripped
of her title, some felt that she should be given a second chance in
life.

In an interview with the Straits Times last week, Miss Low expressed
remorse for her past mistakes and hope she can be given another chance
to fight for her dreams.

It appears that Singaporeans are not a forgiving people after all and
given her untenable position following the negative publicity of her
case, it is only a matter of time before the coveted crown is removed
from her head.

With the fiasco drawing to the close, the state media should leave
Miss Low alone and allow her to move on with her life.
