Please everybody; cool down.. Saw this recent article somewhere: Heard
this from a reliable source amongst the highest echelons of the PAP.
The PAP was well aware that Aljunied is a risky proposition for them.
This was clear even in 2006 and G—- just scraped through.

The PAP also knew that this time LTK is going to contest the Aljunied
GRC, especially after the electoral boundaries were redrawn. They had
factored that in and they knew that Aljunied is a goner in that case.
There was apparently considerable thinking to move G—- to East Coast
GRC so that his success is guaranteed. This was mooted by GCT. It
carried through the day and apparently G—- was also sure that he would
be moved to East Coast. Suddenly for no apparent reason, Lim Swee Say
was moved to East Coast GRC and G—- was retained at Aljunied.
Apparently the decision was taken by LHL, TCH and WKS. No one knows
the rationale for that decision. There are 2 theories going around:
One, they didn’t want to sacrifice Lim Swee Say and wanted a safe seat
for him. Second, some sections in the PAP believed that G—- was
gaining international stature (much more than the PM himself) and
wanted to cut down his size. He was also considered to be GCT’s man
and LHL wanted him out respectably. One should also note that it is
only GCT who is making statements supporting G—-. LHL is conspicuous
by his silence on GCT. LKY’s threat to Aljunied residents (leaving
residents confused as per G—-, while causing more Aljunied residents
to be frustrated & vote for Workers’ Party) is actually sounding the
death knell for G—- (and do S’poreans still think that LKY is old &
senile?). So, PAP wants G—- to lose. LTK has questioned the rally
attendees that if G—- is so important to the PAP team, why doesn’t G—-
be removed from Aljunied GRC. If this has even some truth to it, one
can easily speculate that there’s enough dissent even within PAP ranks
and one just has to wait for Mentor Lee to exit for the dissent to
come out in the open. They have given up on Aljunied and Hougang.

PAP is using Tin Pei Ling as test-water (as a young candidate). In
GE2016, the most exciting moment is the arrival of Li ShengWu (elder
son of Lee Hsien Yang), LKY grandson and he should be 28 years old by
then to continue the process of dynasty building…
Other possible candidates in 2016:

1. Li HonYi (elder son of LHL/Ho Ching)
Li was apparently being groomed for a future leadership role after
being awarded a government scholarship to study economics at the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (in 2008). The Singapore
military has served as a training ground for political leaders and
executives in state companies.

2. Teo Eng Siang (son of Teo Chee Hean)
Singapore pays S$280,825 for tuition for Teo’s son –
Teo Eng Siang was awarded a Public Service Commission Scholarship in a
public ceremony by his own daddy, Singapore Admiral and Minister Teo
Chee Hean. Young Teo now(2008) heads for the United States where he
will be attending Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Brown
University is a fashionable Ivy Leage school and has a huge annual
tuition of US$42,303, or US$169,202 (S$280,825) for the full four
years. Don’t you think there are needier students in Singapore?

3.Warren Mah
Warren Mah, son of Mah Bow Tan, Singapore’s Minister for National
Development, is living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He is on a scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania from the
Monetary Authority of Singapore.

This is Politics (Singapore Politics i should think), its not as
simple as we ordinary folks out there to comprehend precisely. The PAP
do have contingency and far-sight plans ahead.

George Yeo Got Screwed by PAP's GRC System

PAP's loss of Aljunied (as well as Hougang by an increased margin) and
the near loss (retaining by only 50-odd percent) of a number of others
(including Marine Parade) is a stinging rebuke to the party.

A number of people are sad for George Yeo; they prefer some other
characters, such as WKS, to fall. But it's something that must be
done. If you feel sorry for George Yeo, blame LKY's GRC strategy,
which is his way of depriving the peasants of a voice Now the GRC
strategy is in a shamble.

It will be very difficult for the PAP to regain Aljunied because they
can't afford to risk a minister to challenge the WP in the next
election. At most they can put up George Yeo again, together with
some ministers who are due for retirement and can be sacrificed (eg.
GCT & WKS). But George Yeo & other retiring ministers may not want to
look like fools, so the PAP will have a huge problem trying to regain
Aljumied. Serves them right.

The NCMP (best 3 losers) could be WP's Yee Jenn Jong & Eric Tan and
SPP's Lina Chiam. Unfortunately, Nicole Seah is 4th best loser.

The day has come for LKY to repent. It' the beginning of the end for
him and he's too old and feeble to do anything about it.

TIME TO STOP THE GRC - Tampering with the democratic process by PAP
This is the result of Singapore's controversial group representation constituency (GRC) system: the loss of a strong, highly visible foreign minister and of a veteran opposition leader, and the addition of a foot-stomping 27-year-old rookie.

In one fell swoop, three office holders of the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) -- Foreign Affairs Minister George Yeo, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Lim Hwee Hua and Senior Minister of State Zainul Abidin Rasheed are out. Was that the intent of Aljunied voters?

On the other side of the fence, veteran opposition leader Chiam See Tong lost his seat -- a voice that now needs to be filled in Parliament. Blogger @mrbrown wrote on Twitter, "Chiam See Tong, you fought the good fight. No one can say you didn't. I salute you."Again, was the removal of a respected political leader the real intent of voters?

In sad irony, one of the real winners in all this is Tin Pei Ling. At 27, she is the youngest in the PAP's lineup this election. Compare that with Chiam See Tong, who has been in service to the nation for the same 27 years. Talk about a freak election.

The GRC screwed up Singapore and screwed up PAP themselves. The GRC is now proven to be a double-edged sword that can cut both ways, and in this GE, the PAP had come off worst.

This is the stark reality of our political system -- an all-or-nothing bet that, at best, raises a new generation of leaders. At its worst, it compromises the very thing that we all seek as citizens: a responsive, credible and respectable government.

Politicians are not born -- they are groomed. But the use of the GRC ticket as a fast-track path to politics is irresponsible and dangerous for nationhood. What we've done on election day was to swap experience with youth. But at what price? Is that the intent of voters?

Experiments with the GRC system must end. It's time to abolish the GRC before we further undermine our democracy.

his press conference yesterday marked by the dramatic fainting of his wife
Irene Kng, PBM Jack Neo has apologized on blogkaki, the blog he shared with
his close friend of more than 10 years Foreign Minister George Yeo.

Writing in Mandarin, PBM Jack Neo apologized to his family and friends and
beg them to give him a second chance:

"I can't reverse what I have done. I am just human and can make mistake.
Although I have already admitted my fault, I beg you again to forgive me and
give me a second chance," he wrote.

Though he is a Christian, he said his public fall from grace was a
"retribution":

"There is a saying: You reap what you sow....What Man does, Heaven sees. Do
no think that Heaven will not see if you hide in a dark place and do bad
things."

He claimed that the scandal is a "painful awakening" for him and vowed to
treasure his wife and stay "faithful" to her while being "very careful with
his own behavior and how he treats women from now on".

Arguably the most successful Singapore movie director to date, PBM Jack Neo
was awarded a public service medal in 2004 and a Cultural Medallion in 2005.

The scandal erupted last Saturday when a former mistress Wendy Neo went to
his place to confront him and alerting the media in the process.

It was subsequently revealed that Jack was involved in or tried to pursue at
least 10 other women as well including a 16 year old girl of French descent.

Even before the sensational news reached the public, Jack called up George
Yeo to inform him of the misfortune who immediately wrote an article on
blogkaki calling on Singaporeans to "rally" around Jack.

George Yeo has since maintained a dignified silence after being slammed by
netizens for his "inappropriate" support for Jack. As expected, the
mainstream media dared not publish the story which will put the Foreign
Minister in a bad light.

Another PAP MP Lim Biow Chuan was also flamed for saying that such scandals
are "unavoidable" for successful men like Jack. He later claimed that he was
"misquoted" by the press.

After screwing many girls and screwing his own life up in the process, PBM
Jack Neo has at least contributed something to fellow Singaporeans by
screwing up the political careers of two PAP MPs.

George Yeo changed his stand on political debate

I refer to the article published by The Online Citizen (TOC) on Sunday, 2
August 2009, reported by Ravi Philemon under the title, "George Yeo's Meet
the People Session at McDonald's".

According to the TOC report, Mr Yeo made some controversial comments about
Burma's pro-democracy icon, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, her husband and her
family, including the much-loved father of Aung San Suu Kyi- Burma's
independence leader, General Aung San.

According to Ravi Philemon's report :

"The focus then shifted to ASEAN and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. Mr. George Yeo
said, "It is very sad that she has been imprisoned for so many years." But
he was quick to add that we must not oversimplify the problems in Burma. He
felt that as the country was very complex in its make up with the Burmese
making up only about 50% of the total population of the entire population of
Burma, only the military could hold the entire country together. He added
that it was the military that had ruled Burma from independence and that it
was Aung San Suu Kyi's father, General Aung San, that was the original
military man that had ruled the country since independence."

General Aung San, the leader of Burma's independence movement, was
assassinated on 19 July 1947. Burma's first constitution was established in
1948. Therefore Mr Yeo's incoherent comments were completely incorrect. The
Burmese military did not rule the country "since independence", as Mr Yeo
said.

Chronically, Burma was a fully democratic republic from 1948 to 1962. On 4
January 1948, the nation became an independent republic, named the Union of
Burma, with Sao Shwe Thaik as its first President and U Nu as its first
Prime Minister.

Why does Mr Yeo owe an apology to Aung San Suu Kyi? Mr Yeo said "that it was
also General Aung San who created the rule that a Burmese who married a
foreigner cannot rule the country and that now Aung San Suu Kyi is married
to a foreigner."

Mr Yeo is thoroughly mistaken.

The 1948 Constitution stated: "No person shall be eligible for election to
the office of President unless he is a citizen of the Union who was, or both
of whose parents were, born in any of the territories included within the
Union." Aung San Suu Kyi's parents were both Burmese. She was born in Burma
and she is still a Burmese citizen. Therefore she can be President of Burma,
as stated in the Consitution.

Mr Yeo's comment is thus a great insult to Aung San Suu Kyi and her family.
Also, Mr Yeo, who is Singapore's Foreign Minister, has insulted over 52
million Burmese who hold the highest respect for General Aung San.

As Burma's first constitution was established only in 1948, after General
Aung San had been murdered, it is impossible for General Aung San to create
a rule to ban any Burmese who married a foreigner from ruling the country
. The military junta only introduced the rule in 2008, deliberately
aimed at preventing Aung San Suu Kyi's participation in the 2010 elections.

Mr Yeo would have Burmese adhere to the Constitution which was first
suspended when General Ne Win came to power through a coup, and which was
later amended by the junta for political purposes. Equally, should not Mr
Yeo be demanding that the Burmese junta adhere to the results of the 1990
elections which Aung San Suu Kyi's NLD won overwhelmingly?

Mr Yeo's comments, which shows his ignorance of Burmese history, has added
fuel to the fire, especially at a time when Aung San Suu Kyi is in a
politically-motivated mock trial for breaking the conditions of her house
arrest. The charges were laid after an American man paid an uninvited visit
to her home. It is widely expected she will end up in jail. The verdict of
her trial is expected to be delivered on Friday.

Mr Yeo said: "It was because her husband is a foreigner and from the
'western world' that the 'western world' has come to support Aung San Suu
Kyi and have failed to recognise the rule of the military".

In 1972, Aung San Suu Kyi married Dr Michael Aris, a scholar of Tibetan
culture, in Bhutan. The following year she gave birth to their first son,
Alexander Aris, in London; their second son, Kim, was born in 1977.
Following this, she earned a Ph.D. at the School of Oriental and African
Studies, University of London in 1985.

Mr Yeo denigrated not only Aung San Suu Kyi's personal life , his comments
also cast aspersions on her family and her supporters. Mr Yeo's labeling
of Dr Aris as someone from the 'western world" shows his lack of sympathy
for Aung San Suu Kyi, her husband and their children.

Dr Aris died of cancer on his 53 birthday on March 27 1999. He had requested
to see his wife one last time in Burma but his request was denied by the
military junta.

The fact that the 'western world' supports Aung San Suu Kyi has nothing to
do with her husband being a foreigner . The support for the Burmese cause
and for Aung San Suu Kyi comes from all parts of the world, including Asean
countries.

Mr Yeo added that "the problem in Burma is actually a very deep family
dispute and the road to democracy for Burma is long and that the elections
next year is but a small step towards that goal."

Burma's political imbroglio is created by neither Aung San Suu Kyi nor her
party, the National League for Democracy (NLD) . The NLD had won a landslide
victory in the 1990 elections organised by the military junta which, till
today, has refused to hand power over to the NLD. Burma's problems are
created by the military regime itself such as forcing millions of ethnic
minorities to flee to neighboring countries, ignoring humanitarian aid to
cyclone Nargis' victims and killing monks and protesters. The military
regime imprisons thousands of political prisoners. News are now emerging
that the regime is also seeking to build nuclear reactors with help from
North Korea.

Mr Yeo said that "ASEAN has worked well in keeping the peace in this region,
in subjecting the member nations to peer pressure and in trying to forge
economic integration."

Ironically, Mr Yeo's statement is contradicted by Singapore's Senior
Minister, Mr Goh Chok Tong, who had said that "Singapore investors will
likely wait until after Myanmar's elections next year before pouring any
more money into the country". His comment came at the end of a four-day trip
to Burma in June where he met with Burma's top generals, including Senior
Gen Than Shwe.

To conclude, Singapore's Foreign Minister insulted Aung San Suu Kyi, her
husband Dr Michael Aris and Burma's independence leader, General Aung San.

Given the fact that Mr Yeo has gotten his facts wrong, Does he not owe Aung
San Suu Kyi - and the Burmese people - an apology?
