How can we make our country great again?

How can we make our country great again?
- A Singaporeans' point of view. You may not agree, but as a citizen of Singapore by birth, I have every right to feel what I feel and every right to desire a need for these changes or/and answers.
If a citizen (by birth) of a country is NOT allowed to ask or question the way or how his/her country is governed then who else has this right and what kind of a democracy is this? Everyone has the right to address the statements and issues I have written below, and may wish to do so or may not. It is entirely up to the individual who reads this to agree or disagree with my post. This is what I feel and NOT something I wish to force unto others-
Dear Prime Minister & People's Action Party,
honestly to me, in the past decade or so,
you have done a SHITTY job.
A whole bunch of us Singaporeans have recently woken up, including me. Especially after the recent elections held by our neighbours and what they faced under their previous ruler / government and the events that followed after his / its downfall. Below are certain questions I have the NEED & deserve answers to, being a citizen of Singapore..
'' ...to build a democratic society
based on justice and equality
so as to achieve happiness, prosperity
and progress for our nation..." - sound familiar? We should abide by this right? Well here goes.
******************************************
Questions :
1. (Public Housing)
As someone in the field of construction & building materials, I would conclude that it only costs about 30% - 40% of the amount HDB charges young newlyweds, single parents and the elderly for a newly built BTO house, to actually build one. If I am wrong, then I am sure, the cost is even lower then that. So why is, ''affordable public housing', not being made affordable to us Singaporeans?
$260,000 for a newly built 1rm 1hall BTO unit in Kim Tian with No flooring, No lighting, No carpentry, No paint, No aircons, No solid walls, is exuberant. On top of that,
the concessionary interest rates for a HDB loan is 2.6% per annum. A minimum of $260,000 + (2.6% x $260,000) x 20yrs is then forced down the throat of this citizen of yours who can only afford a 1rm 1hall prison cell in the outskirts of town.
You may however entice him with some grants. An average of up to $40,000 as you see fit, but the end figure wud still be $220,000 + (2.6% x $220,000) x 20yrs = $334,400
A nett profit of 52% on this 'affordable public housing' ON TOP of the exuberant figure it was sold at. What kind of profits spurn from a 5room BTO, an EC or DBSS unit? I am afraid to do calculations on these. I might cough out a fur-ball. In 20yrs time, how are our children going to afford these homes??
---------------------------------------------------------------
2. 99yrs Tenure
Please be truthful, clear and transparent on the big question at hand. What happens to young and old Singaporean HDB home owners once their HDB lease is up. In most areas now, that will be in about 70yrs. What happens to that million dollar Bishan HDB apartment when 99yrs comes? All that money down the drain? All that CPF used up? What happens to your citizens whom you had enticed with the dream of owning a home / property to?
The word here is DREAM isnt it?
---------------------------------------------------------------
3. (Town Council)
The respective TCs enforces onto each household an average of btwn $64 - $104 a month. ENFORCES.
Apart from any HDB upgrading which is most probably contracted to the LOWEST bidder of which HDB home owners have to pay a 'subsidised fee' for, what is the purpose of the S&CC fee? Being once a HDB home owner, the only thing I can derive at is the washing of corridors once or twice a month and thats it. Please dont tell me about painting of old HDB blocks and things like that. You should be ashamed of yourself to admit that one of the reasons for this fee is for a fresh coat of paint every 10yrs or so.
There is an average of 100 homes in a normal sized HDB flat.
2 to 3 foreign workers can wash up to 10 blocks of flats a month. (according to a non documented interview I had with one such foreign worker)
An average of $80 x (100 homes) x 10 blocks collected each month = $80,000 per 10 normal sized HDB blocks.
Do you pay these 3 foreign workers $25,000 a month each?
If so, can some of my Doctor and Engineer friends who dont get this kinda salary apply for this job?
---------------------------------------------------------------
4. (COE, Road Tax, ERP)
COE - You and only you control how many vehicles are allowed to come into this country and be sold on open market. There is no need to project a fantasy onto your citizens that we control this. Moreover, noone in their right sound mind would bid $100,000 for a phantom piece of certificate to buy a $20,000 car. This is obviously a source of revenue for you made to seem legit. Its BS. No other country has this, and if they did, its wrong.
Road Tax - I will NOT contest on the Road tax issue. It seems fair. I myself pay a total of about $15,000 a year on road tax alone. Want a big car, want a big engine, wanna exert more fumes, then pay more, and we get better roads, get wider highways built. etc... Fine.
ERP - aka Every Road Pay
Please lah, another source of revenue made to seem legit. Dont even try to explain this one. We wont and will never buy into it.
In 20yrs time, how are our children going to afford owning cars to drive our grandkids in??
---------------------------------------------------------------
5. GIC
According to the Criminal Procedure Code (Singapore)
Criminal breach of trust –
Criminal breach of trust is committed by a person who, being in any manner entrusted with property, or with any dominion over property, dishonestly misappropriates or converts to his or her own use that property, or dishonestly uses or disposes of that property in violation of any direction of law prescribing the mode in which such trust is to be discharged...
What did ALL Singaporeans agreed on or understood by when it comes to their monthly salary to be kept in a Central Provident Fund? I rest my case.
---------------------------------------------------------------
6. Rising Taxes & Utilities
Is our country really in debt? As some suggest to justify the rise in every form of tax?
You spend $40 billion in recent years on our infantry, Billions on Terminals 4 and 5. Billions on failed investments. And you think its ok to just make us pay for your shitty decisions?
Tsk Tsk Tsk...
Did we ask you to dip into our reserves and loose all this money or spend all this money freely? And if you say that we are in debt, who da fug did you borrow money from and why??
If we borrowed money from the banks, we ourselves have to pay for it. But why is it that when our government borrows money, we the citizens are in turn made to pay??
Can you also tell me, does any minister pay for any of the following? Property Tax, COE, Road Tax, Income tax?
If No, then WHY??
---------------------------------------------------------------
7. Key Positions
Why are retired army generals placed into the highest key positions in most government ministries?
Suka suka give your friends with no real experiences to run these agencies isit?
Why would the knowledge of digging trenches and organising water parades come in handy in the running of CPF, SMRT, FAS, MOE...etc etc.
Let them retire in peace lah n hire people that are worth the money!
******************************************************
There are seriously many many more issues that I have to be brought up but perhaps for another day. I do however have some advice for my government.
If you want to turn our hearts around then please look into the following :
1. Free Healthcare at Public hospitals.
Many countries have this so why cant we.
Raise income tax across the board.
Just 10% of an average working Singaporean salary would be sufficient. A 2 million workforce putting an average of $3000 a year in would generate $6 billion. If one out of 100 Singaporeans in our 5 million population needs up to $50,000 in medical relief a year, that makes only an average of 50,000 Singaporeans x $50,000 = $2.5 Billion. You still profit $3.5 billion.
---------------------------------------------------------------
2. Abolish the COE system. Implement a new 'Fixed Priced' and affordable tax on new vehicles and vehicles with renewed life. Control and Release the number of vehicles allowed to be imported into Singapore and onto our roads against the number of vehicles scrapped or exported out. It is not difficult to do so. If one has to wait 6 months for a brand new $30,000 Honda, I am very sure, one has no qualms doing so.
---------------------------------------------------------------
3. Demolish ALL ERP gantries. Sell the system to another corrupt country, use the money to upgrade our 25yr old train system.
---------------------------------------------------------------
4. Shut down the GIC and cease all its activities. No one to be prosecuted. Let bygones be bygones.
---------------------------------------------------------------
5. Monitor the profits of the HDB. Control 'Public Housing' prices. Make it affordable to your citizens again. A 30% decrease in selling price for newly built homes will be welcomed with open arms. From all the money that has been made from Public Housing, give a payout of between $20,000 - $50,000 to home owners for HDB units taken back after 99yrs.
---------------------------------------------------------------
6. Stop spending exuberantly on the Army just to make your friends happy. We are not and most probably never be under threat from any nation to need such sophisticated and expensive war toys.
---------------------------------------------------------------
7. Very subsidised education in our local universities, JCs and polytechnics to all Singaporeans who deserve em. As long as our kids have met the criteria and marks to enter these institutions after their secondary school, lighten the burden on these kids and their families. If you stop bringing in truckloads of foreigners into our schools, there will be space for our kids. Our kids do not have to go abroad. Keep your citizens inbound to get the best out of them. Raise the pricing per student at Primary and Secondary school levels by 50% if you have to. (Based on current rates)
---------------------------------------------------------------
8. Do NOT even suggest a Terminal 6.
---------------------------------------------------------------
9. Be a man of your word. Release our CPF back to us in FULL when we reach 55yrs of age. Not partial, not in instalments. FULL.
---------------------------------------------------------------
10. Show of faith.
Let the citizens decide who our next Prime Minister is. Let us vote for a position that matters. I have been seeing reports all over social media lately saying that most Singaporeans would love to see the PM post be replaced by our current Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam. According to unsubstantiated reports by Yahoo Singapore, he is the clear favourite of Singaporeans to succeed Lee Hsien Loong as Singapore’s next Prime Minister. How many Singaporeans did they survey this on? 5? 10? This is clearcut propaganda. If you tell us something many times over, many months or years ahead, we are most likely to vote in favour of your choice. I dont think so. Not this time. No matter how good the man is, he is still one of you. We need someone else.
Someone Non-PAP. We are tired of voting puppets.
**********************************************************
I also wish to ask a question onto our law enforcers, judiciary staff, army, men in blue and basically all civil servants..
When you took this job and donned that uniform or position, did you do it to protect and serve your country and countrymen?
Or did u do it to protect your PM and government?
**********************************************************
Anyways,
my dearest Government, if you can bring back the good old days that Lee Kuan Yew and us had, a time where housing, transportation, healthcare and education was affordable, then we will continue to support, love and cherish you.
If you wish to continue with this blatant tyranny and communist like habit of urs, then I pray to GOD, u get kicked the Fug out at our next elections!!
p.s - Opposition parties, you better bring your A game next time round.
''Lets, make a change together, for the better..
...for our children, and our children's children..''
- Bhai Angullia -
Singapore - from Meritocracy to Mediocracy.

Who Gave the Govt the Right to do such Evil Acts?

: A Tale of 4 citizens

1. Ah Kow is a Malaysian from Penang. He came to work in Singapore and became a Permanent Resident. After decades of working in Singapore, he COLLECTED his CPF SAVINGS and returned to Penang to retire comfortably in a bungalow with a Mercedes car.

2. Li Ning is a student from China sponsored by the Singapore government to study in Singapore. She was given a living allowance and free education from Secondary One to University. After graduation, the Singapore government employed her and asked her to be a citizen. She declined, continued working for 5 years and went back to China for a better-paying job (as people who can speak English are valued in China, thanks to sponsorship from Singapore) after collecting her CPF SAVINGS.

3. John is a New Zealand (Kiwi) citizen. He was employed as an English teacher and got his permanent residency after just three months. He worked for ten years and COLLECTED his CPF SAVINGS and went home to buy a bungalow and a Volvo car.

4. Krishnan is a Singapore Citizen and worked as a technician until he was retrenched as the boss employed a cheaper foreign talent. Then he became a taxi driver and found he could not renew his taxi licence unless he paid money into his CPF. When he was 55 years old, he found he could not withdraw his CPF SAVINGS. When he reached 65, he found that the CPF Board only refunded him $500 a month of his own money for his living expenses. Then they told him that he has to pay medical insurance premiums from 1st November this year or be thrown into jail.

Which government can treat its own citizens in these immoral, unethical, unlawful and deviant ways? Who allowed them to do these evil acts?

If a CHANGE IS NEEDED... share this with the many Singaporeans who were misled by PAP.

Why We Don't Want another Prime Minister from PAP

Received this from a Friend this morning:

I don't want a new PM from the current party.
In fact,  I don't want the current ruling party to be in power again.

Because while they are in power

1. They increased water bill,  and they tax on top on water tax

2. They increased electricity bill

3. They increased medical  fees

4. They increased transport fares

5. They increased school fees

6. They increased town council fees

7. They increase petrol prices

8. They increased CPF minimum sum

9. They increased flat prices

10. They increased gas prices.

11.they also sued people who voice out.

12.They also going to have a new law under the 'fake news' pretence to stop people from speaking up

13. They start imposing all sort of requirements for blue collars.
Eg: O level English and maths to be a plumber. This was on the Chinese news paper.

14. They suspend your working  license if you don't pay medisave even though you have reach the required amount imposed by the ruling party.

15. They keep prolonging your CPF withdrawal age.

16. They implement an amount on the CPF amount you are allow to use when you are sick. When you have money in your CPF, yet you still got to fork out cash.

17. They are increasing GSTs as we speak, even though many are jobless and can't make ends meet.

18. Most of them, or infact, all of them,  live in ivory tower.
Not knowing what the people are going through everyday.

19. With people jobless, many turned to PHV but the ruling party are not allowing the drivers to deduct their operating cost off tax. All of them had to pay tax for Erps, which is another tax upon tax.

20. They told our children going to school is not important anymore. because a degree cannot guarantee you a job. Because it was cheaper to import degrees from god knows where.

I really don't want the ruling party to be in power anymore.
Or any of their 4 G whatever they call it.

They don't and they refused to comprehend the people's problems.
They said a lot,  but a lot was not done.

I don't want to end up collecting cardboards when I am 70, If I live that long ...
Because we will never stop paying, they will always have new things to make us pay.

I don't want my children becoming a third class citizen when the government encourage the children to stop studying while they import cheap degrees.

I really don't want the new 4G as my PM
I really don't want the current ruling party to be my government any more.

IFYOU AGREE WITH ME,
PLEASE “KEE CHIU” !🙋🏻‍♀

More AfterShocks from the Budget 2018

Now you know why they need to raise the GST....

Budget 2018 is prudent and responsible? An outright lie, if one even bother to read into the balance sheet. I have a shock of my life reading how much the PAP government spent in a SINGLE year:

1) S$9.4 million on a useless puppet President (what does Halimah Yacob even need to spend on)

2) S$13 billion on Pension Funds for Ministers (considering that the pension scheme has been scrapped, why is this fund higher than the Healthcare budget)

3) 20% increase in spending to a S$182 million by the Attorney General Chambers (well done Lucien Wong)

4) S$555 million in increased spending by Defence Ministry to a record S$14.7 Defence Budget (this is 2.7 times above Malaysia's $5.3 billion Defence spending)

5) 14.7% jump in Ministry of Finance spending (the second largest year-to-year increase in all ministries, the first being Transport)

6) 2.4% reduction of Ministry of Health spending (now you have concrete proof they are lying when they said healthcare expenditures are rising over the roof)

7) S$1 billion propaganda budget for Ministry of Communications and Information

8) 95.4% increase in spending on Lee Hsien Loong's Prime Minister Office from S$414 million in FY2016 to S$809 million in FY2017

9) 52.6% increase in spending to S$13.7 billion for the Transport Ministry due to legal corruption scheme i.e. New Rail Financing Framework

10) 90.6% reduction in statutory board's contribution to tax revenue (S$4.4 billion is missing, wtf happened?!)

Call for Goh Chok Tong to Lead the Opposition in next Election

Following PM Lee's refusal to name his successor, there are growing voice of discontent within the ruling party that the dishonourable son is desperately holding on to power with total disregard to the usual PAP's practice of grooming new leaders and phasing themselves out gradually. He is going on the path towards dictatorship even within his own party.

Some within the party are preparing for the eventuality of a split within the party, with ESM Goh Chok Tong, who had earlier advised PM Lee to name his successor but to no avail, forming his own Party to restore Singapore to it's former glory once again.

ESM Goh had suggested in a facebook post that PM Lee should settle the 4th Generation leadership team within a 6 to 9 months timeframe. But the dictator had brushed that aside, saying that the ESM is speaking “with the privilege of watching things, rather than being responsible to make it happen”. And since then (Jan 2018) nothing has happened. And in the latest reshuffle of the Cabinet, no new deputy PM is expected to be named.

With ESM leading the opposition in the next Election, there is a real possibility of the PAP being toppled, as he had more than 10 years of experience in running the govt as a Prime Minister and lead the country during it's proudest moment, in terms of achievements, both economically and socially.

People are getting tired of lies and manipulations by the incumbent who has grown arrogant, complacent and taking the people for granted. Respect for ordinary Singaporeans are at an all time low, as the ruling party struggles to accomdate the huge foreign population in the country. Jobs and education are dominated by foreigners, driving many locals to joblessness and hopelessness.

Infrastructure breakdowns, which were unheard of during ESM Goh's reign, have become a daily affair. At the same time, taxes, fares and fees were raised to unprecedented levels in spite of the huge Budget surplus, which they themselves were shocked by the size of it in this year's Budget.

Raising of GST to 9% had to be postponed as there is no more lie to tell given the huge surplus splashed across all TV screen "live" during the Budget Speech. The surplus for the year 2017 is 10 times more than the forecast. That is how mediocre our govt ministers are with their forcasting nowadays.

It is time to change, and ESM Goh is now the key to Singapore's future. He has all the credentials to make Singapore great again. We hope ESM Goh will take up this challenge for the good of the people. If a 93-year-old man across the straits can do it, a 77-year-old Goh Chok Tong should be able to do even better.

Income Inequality and Social Stratification Talks: Mediocrity on Display

Quite clearly, the shocking Malaysian Election results, had jolted PM Lee out of his long slumber.

All of a sudden, his Ministers were summoned into Parliament to talk on topics that he felt guilty about, and made to speak positively and graciously about the oppositions. In fact, they sounded like apologizing to the Workers Party, for the bullying earlier on. The Parliament, which is fast turning into a white elephant, a tourist destination, and a museum, was suddenly bustling with noise from one party.

Like school boys and girls who were forced to do their homework overnight, these Ministers were seen struggling to read from prepared notes. All talking about the same theme - social stratification and income inequality - ironically, the 2 monsters created by themselves over the years.

Pinky had in the past, boasted of bringing in more billionaires into Singapore, "which will be better for Singaporeans". This "better for Singaporeans" phrase is really a irresponsible excuse to do anything he liked, because it doesn't need to be backed by any empirical numbers.

The same phrase was used when he planned to raise GST in 2006, but added that raising GST is actually to help the poor. A ridiculous and academically unacceptable argument. Naturally, it is now a worldwide laughing stock, just like many other statements he had made off-the-cuff.

The end result of all the noises made in Parliament is of course, NOTHING. Nothing other than ended up contradicting his earlier comment on Inequality (see pic below).

It was just an academic exercise for Pinky to see how well his Ministers can speak compared to his Malaysian counterparts in Pakatan Harapan, many of whom spoke with such intensity and passion, bare-handed (no notes), it was putting his millionaire Ministers to complete shame.

But by calling them to Parliament to display their verbal skills so soon after millions around the world were enthralled by the passionate Malaysian opposition winners, the comparison turned out to be an insult to Singapore for having so many overly paid and incompetent politicians in Parliament.

Speeches by Nga Chor Ming, Hannah Yeoh, Yeo Bee Yin, not to mention the veterans like Rafidah Aziz & Rafizi, as compared to dull, mundane and almost predictable speeches by Lawrence Wong, Indranee, Chan CS, and the PM himself.

This is telling us that something is not right here. We are not getting our money worth from this government. We deserve many times more, if we were to use the same measuring yardstick applied to the Malaysians. Look like, it is time for a long awaited CHANGE in Singapore too, if life in Singapore is to improve.

Mahathir Took A Swipe at PM Lee's High Salary

As a prime minister for the people, do you need such high salary? Listen to the answer from the mouth of a veteran two-timer prime minister. Hear for yourself what a shameful and pathetic prime minister Ah Loong is, and a poor excuse for a human being.

Useless Prime Minister : A Public Comment

A brave lady called Florence had this to say in the Reach Budget 2018 WhatsApp Chat....

Dear Prime Minister. Your budget makes no sense at all. I am not like one of these many lemmings on here that praise it and don't know what its about.

Can you care to explain the following:

1) If you have a budget surplus of almost $10 billion from last year, why are u still raising the GST?

2) Isn't giving us $300 on one hand (bribing one with one's own money) and taking it away on the other hand with a GST increase, rather meaningless?

3) Why are we spending billions $ on infrastructure like rail and roads when we have a zero population growth and almost negative birthrate? Who are we building these infrastructure for? To accommodate your target of 6.9 million population? So, we are spending Singaporean taxpayer money on infrastructure for foreigners?

4) Why is our defence budget 40% larger then our healthcare budget, more then $4 billion more. To buy weapons and equipment to fight who? Name our enemy, Mr. Prime Minister. With an aging population, healthcare should far surpass the defence budget, not the other way round

5) Increasing the education budget by giving more edusave bursaries to our student is like giving crumbs to us. Your govt is giving full scholarships to foreign students, why can't we get that deal instead?

6) If u need more money, instead of taxing the poor with a GST increase, why don't u raise the tax rate for the high earners (those earning over $1 million a year).  I am sure there are thousands of such people, including all your Cabinet Ministers and many MPs. If you tax them more, u surely can avoid the GST.

PM Lee Refused To Name His Replacement

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is still hesitant to hand over power and said that he is not ready to choose the next Prime Minister yet:

“I know Singaporeans are anxious to know who the next PM will be but these things take time, and cannot be forced. I do not believe we are ready to settle on a choice yet.”

The PAP dictator added that he sees “more than one qualified candidate”, and that he will announce the decision only by the next General Election which is due in 2021.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong then praised himself saying Singapore’s 3 prime ministers, his father Lee Kuan Yew, predecessor Goh Chok Tong and himself are the best of the best:

“My government and that of Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, were supported by talented core teams of ministers. All three PMs were not sole leaders, but are “primus inter pares” – first among equals in Latin – with the other leaders.”

Also in his speech, the dictator sang a different tune after years of “fixing” the Opposition. Probably threatened by the Malaysia’s watershed election that saw the arrest of his friend former PM of Malaysia Najib Razak, Lee Hsien Loong poured praises for the only elected Opposition, the Workers’ Party, saying that they help the PAP become “contestable”:

“The WP plays a role in Singapore’s political system. Opposition parties keep the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) on its toes. These parties keep Singapore politics contestable. If the Government becomes incompetent or corrupt, the opposition will grow. So our system gives the PAP government… every incentive to perform, and to keep the opposition performing its role where it is, namely in the opposition.”

Lee Hsien Loong also toned down his “one-party rule” principle, and for the first time admitted that his party may lose power one day:

“However, political parties do not have a fixed lifespan. The PAP does not have a monopoly of power, (and) does not have a right to rule Singapore indefinitely. How long a political party continues in government or in opposition depends on whether it can renew itself, continue to serve the people, and continue to bring progress to the nation. If the PAP can keep on successfully doing that, we can stay in government. But if we ever fail, then we deserve to lose.”

The Singapore dictator who is hugely unpopular defended his new tax increases, calling it “leadership”:

“This does not mean that the Government will shy away from difficult problems. Governing means having to make tough choices when needed. Leadership means you have to explain, persuade, and convince people that you know what you are doing, and you are doing it for good reason. That is the way to maintain people’s trust, and trust is crucial.”

Feedbacks from Majority of Singaporeans were very negative to his this most recent bragging of himself, plus insulting and degrading of the oppositions.

Here are common feedback from readers on what the PM said:
(usernames removed to protect their freedom of speech)
  • Our government has lost its trust and does not truly care for ordinary poor Singaporeans. It is a self-defined ‘aristocratic’ and undemocratic government that is bent on continuing using FEAR and the threat of getting sued or being jailed for simply challenging its policies or any other issues that concerns us. If we continue to vote for the P&P then we DESERVE what are are getting! Do we want this continue? if not make sure we do same like PH

  • Yes, trust is crucial. Once you have lost the trust of your biological siblings, you can rest assured that the peoples' trust in you have certainly been eroded. The only thing that some still pretend to trust you is because of money politics. Who would be stupid enough to offend the pay-master who pays him / her by the millions,an amount that an ordinary person would never be able to accumulate even if he wotks and saves all his whole life-time? So, the crucial trust is actually being hung in balance over a high mountain cliff, dangling precariously in mid-air, like a hot-air balloon filled with nitrogen, waiting for the crucial time to explode. Trust takes time to build up but can be destroyed in a single moment. Once broken, trust, like porcelain, may never be the same again.

  • He cannot step down anymore by now. If you watch what happen to najib and rosmah you will understand why he cannot step down at all. He need to be remove by replacing the entire government away. This is where he has always plan in advance. In sg pm cannot be vote by the people. He uses his all to hide behind the pap party to stay safe. If you need to remove him you need the people to vote away his shell aka pap first. But sg voters are very stubborn and simple mind creatures.

  • Without his father he won't be anywhere!! Plus a useless wife that only 'Donates' billions to around the world!!

  • Please don't take the people for granted or treat them like fools. Remember that we have the People`s Power to put you in Parliament and we have the same Power to remove you at the next election. If you choose to ignore the people, you do so at your own peril.

  • He choose?? Vote him out just like wat our neighbours did, and let some other people do that job. The sun will still rise from the east even when that party is out!!
  • Pls dont step down. We want to have the satisfaction of seeing u being kick out by the voters. Thereafter, we'll spit on ur grave.

  • Good God this pinky really thinks that his father can achieve all the grreat work without the great old guards team - Dr Goh Keng Swee/ Hon Swee Sen and all -A great leader must have a great team to assist and implement .But this son thinks he is a great- nowhere near what his late father and the old guards achieved

  • PM lhl don't die early we very much wanted the new government to dig out you n HC secret where our monies disappeared.

  • Actually honestly... Untill they found the right one... I dont think he shld give up his seats. Not sure what will happen to the economy. Who is suitable honestly in his team? Other than tarman who sounds sound. .. Who actually show they have compassion and talk sense?

  • Like many other things in life, if it is important to you, you will find a way, otherwise, you will find excuses. It is obvious that lhl, being a cancer survivor and almost fainted during past NDR speech has no sincerity or urgency or both to help appoint a 4G Prime Minister despite understanding that having a prime minister elect is a very important and responsible thing to do for Singapore. Whatever his agendas, only he knows.

  • Dishonourable son have too much skeletons and disgraceful records to hide. When he retire or get voted out of power, his skeletons will be exposed and his siblings, nephews and even friends will turn against him like the cronies of Ah Jib

  • As long as GRC stays, we are in shits! Convert all constituencies to SMC, then we talk. If Malaysia Boleh, why Singapura Tidak Boleh! Answer only this question and quit all the BS completely!

Young Singaporeans Want a Carefree and Irresponsible Lifestyle: Maliki Osman

Senior Minister of State Maliki Osman spoke in Parliament yesterday (May 17) hitting out at younger Singaporean generation, criticising them as job hoppers and instagram thrill-seekers:

“More will job hop, with high attrition rates in some professions – because just earning money is not enough – young people want to know that they have made a difference. They look for new experiences and learn new things as they know the possession of single or static skillsets is not sufficient to thrive amid the competition…millennials also enjoy hunting down Instagram-worthy hangouts and participating in various arts or sporting events, and so Singapore must be able to cater to such leisure activities.”

The millionaire PAP Minister also said that the millennials are no longer interested in pursuing wealth like the 5Cs, and lead a carefree and irresponsible lifestyle:

“The mindset of youths today is that, the Singaporean dream of possessing the 5Cs – cash, car, credit card, condominium and a country card membership – was in the past and that millennials are developing their own definition of success. Our youths today crave memorable and purposeful experiences that emphasise the importance of the journey, instead of being fixated with the destination. The youths want to be excited about where they live, work and play, encapsulated by the You Only Live Once (YOLO) attitude.”

Unbeknown to the Minister, Singapore’s younger generations today face greater employment competition from foreigners as compared to the previous generations. Salaries are also stagnated and opportunities are not as abundant due to the influx of foreign labour. In a recent university graduate employment survey, it was found many graduates are earning below S$2,000 on a full-time pay and that unemployment rate of graduates are at least 21%.

Straits Times Publishing Fake News on Malaysia's New Government

One of the parties in the new coalition government of Malaysia has slammed The Straits Times for publishing “completely fabricated and false” claims that they believe is an attempt to “drive a wedge” between their party, the new ruling Pakatan Harapan coalition and the people.

The coalition partner – the People’s Justice Party (PKR) – is taking issue with an article that the Singapore broadsheet published this morning, entitled ‘Cracks appear in PH over posts in new Cabinet’.

The paper reported: “As Malaysia’s new government heads into its first official day of work today, cracks in the hastily put-together Pakatan Harapan (PH) alliance have begun to show right after Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad was sworn in last Thursday.”

Quoting certain “sources”, the paper alleged that PKR’s president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, wanted a Malay politician – not a Chinese politician – to be the finance minister while Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad announced over the weekend that Democratic Action Party (DAP) secretary-general Lim Guan Eng would helm the Ministry of Finance.

The PKR has since hit back. A senior PKR leader who declined to be named reportedly told Free Malaysia Today that the claims in the article are “completely fabricated and false”.

Adding that the PKR believes Lim, an accountant by training, is suitably qualified for the role, the leader said: “We strongly believe that the finance portfolio must be based on ability.”

He criticised: “But we don’t appreciate the narrative and claims being made against PKR, painting us as troublemakers. We believe this report is part of a concerted attempt to drive a wedge between PKR and the people, and PH, to push us out of the pact.”

Meanwhile, Universiti Malaya analyst Azman Awang Pawi felt that PKR may have been hoping for jailed leader Anwar Ibrahim to take over as Finance Minister since it is a portfolio he once held.

Azman added that the PKR should not worry though, since Lim will be advised by a council comprising prominent figures such as former finance minister Daim Zainuddin, former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akthar Aziz, former Petronas president Mohd Hassan Marican, billionaire tycoon Robert Kuok and economist KS Jomo.

Azman said: “The finance ministry is extremely important in politics. You can see how important the portfolio was to Umno in the Barisan Nasional-led government…Giving Lim the finance portfolio may not sit well with Malay conservatives, but they don’t have to worry as the Council of Elders will advise him.”

As for Lim, he has earlier clarified to reporters: “I’m Malaysian, I don’t see myself as Chinese.”

CIA says Singapore public debt even higher than Malaysia

Dr Mahathir says M’sia RM1Trillion in debt but CIA says S’pore public debt even higher.

Speaking at his inaugural press conference as the country’s 7th PM on Thu night (10 May), Dr Mahathir Mohamad said top on his list were the implementation of new economic measures as well as reducing the national debt of Malaysia.

Pakatan Harapan coalition headed by Dr Mahathir won the Malaysia GE14 decisively on Wed (9 May) to form the new Malaysian government.

Dr Mahathir said the new government will ensure that the ringgit’s value remains steady, adding that economic management and business finances will be its main focus.

On the national debt, Dr Mahathir said the country is in a "horrid financial problem" as Bank Negara Malaysia had stated that the amount owed by the government to financial institutions is RM800 billion.

"But I also know there's is a hidden figure that could be about RM1 trillion (S$340b)," he added. He said solving issues pertaining the country’s debt would be his administration’s priority.

"We have to reduce our debt and we have to pay off our debt. Now we are saying that we can pay off quite a big (amount of) debt because we know where the money is and I think we can squeeze some people off their money.”

However, he noted that some debts were too large and negotiations on the terms and amounts as well as the course of the terms were needed.

Dr Mahathir said his administration would be able to retrieve 1MDB fund as they have identified “certain places where they are hidden”. He cited these locations as the United States, Singapore, Switzerland and also with businessman Jho Low.

S'pore government indebtedness higher than that of M'sia

Chris Kuan, a retired banker who blogs regularly on financial matters, opined that despite the huge debt owed to external financial institutions, Malaysian government indebtedness is low.

"Malaysian government indebtedness is low, 51% of GDP which is only half of Singapore's (ours is high largely due to CPF)," he wrote.

"There is good amount of fiscal space for the new government to finance the fall in revenues due to the removal of GST through an increase in net debt issuance."

Chris also added that Malaysia is more flexible than Singapore when it comes to financing arrangements.

"Unlike Singapore, Malaysia isn't constitutionally constrained by prohibition against deficit financing. Our friends up north has more flexible arrangements," he said. "We can also have the same but we don't."

"Now shouldn't we have this kind of debate in Singapore, eh?" he added.

CIA World Factbook: SG ranks 11th, MY ranks 95 in Public Debt

Indeed, according to the information recorded in CIA World Factbook, the public debt of Singapore is 114.6% of GDP while Malaysia's is 52.5% (about the same as what Chris has calculated).

The CIA World Factbook compares the cumulative total of all government borrowings less repayments that are denominated in a country's home currency. In other words, it is the accumulated level of debt owed by the government of a country.

As revealed by Chris, Malaysian government's debt mainly came from external financial institutions while Singaporean government largely borrowed from Singaporeans, that is, the CPF holders.

Regardless, public debts are still money owed by the government to entities outside of the government. In this respect, Singapore is ranked by CIA to be 11th in terms of government indebtedness (as % of GDP) while Malaysia is ranked 95th in the world, far from Singapore's level.

So, whether the money is owed to financial institutions or to citizens, just like any other creditors, they expect to recover their principals with interests at the end of the day.

No need for Singapore govt to "kowtow" to CPF holders

But there is a subtle difference though between owing money to financial institutions vs citizens.

If the government "screws-up" in using the borrowed funds and is unable to pay its installments in time, it will have to renegotiate with the financial institutions to change the repayment schedules. Now, the financial institutions may or may not agree. In other words, the government has to "kowtow" to the financial institutions.

In the case of Singapore, there is no need for the Singapore government to "kowtow" to its citizens. The Singapore government "borrows" money from Singaporeans through their CPF, which is covered under the CPF Act.

It's relatively easy for the Singapore government to change the CPF rules, should it want to delay any repayments. For example, it can easily change the minimum sum for CPF draw-downs to do that. No negotiations are necessary with the CPF holders, unlike the Malaysian government who would need to negotiate with the institutions. In fact, that was what Dr Mahathir said on Thu, that some debts were too large and negotiations on the repayment terms were needed. No country would want to default because it would suffer drastic economic consequences, which in turn would surely cause the government to suffer politically.

For Singapore, as said, since the government is borrowing from Singaporeans through their CPF, it's relatively easy for the government to deal with any financial crisis which may impact repayments to the CPF holders - just change the CPF rules and Singaporeans, by law, will have to abide by it. Best of all, by law, the younger Singaporeans who enter the workforce will have to contribute their CPF monthly, giving the government a constant stream of funds to borrow from without asking.

Current Political Status Update on Singapore

Over in Singapore, the country continues to be plagued with nepotism, cronyism and legalised corruptions. Like Najib Razak, Lee Hsien Loong's wife Ho Ching is under fire for overseas investment losses using CPF funds and the national reserves. Lee Hsien Loong himself is under severe criticisms for reckless spending over billion-dollar projects like Terminal 5, and raising taxes unnecessarily. At S$2.2 million a year, the world's most expensive politician who called for the people to make sacrifices and pay more taxes, has no absolute intention to impose cost-control measures on million-dollar ministerial salaries.

Most Singaporeans were inspired by the Malaysians' successful removal of dictatorship, but many are apprehensive and sceptical if Lee Hsien Loong can be removed in the next election. The ruling party PAP is unlikely to lose power but it is almost a certain they would lose more seats to the Opposition. The previous General Election of 2015 was an one-off freak election, with the ruling party winning by huge margins due to sympathy votes from the death of Lee Kuan Yew.

Singapore voters are also displeased that Lee Hsien Loong's refusal to resign and his tardiness in choosing a successor. To further the discontentment, the likely successor, Chan Chun Sing, a former army general is seen as inexperienced, unreliable and unsuitable to lead as Singapore PM. Moreover, the new "4G" leadership is nowhere impressive due to inexperience and sheer incompetence.

He has failed to settle his on-going family saga on the Will of 38 Oxley Road, and the whole Lee Family looked broken, fragmented thanks to PM Lee's incompetence in even managing his own family affairs since the death of LKY.

Infrastructure inadequacies continue to plague the ruling party, due to "over-population", word used by PAP's own Khaw Boon Wan. Train, lift and bus breakdowns or shortages continue to surface in unexpected fashion.

With these uncertainties, the Singapore election is all the more unpredictable than Malaysia's. However, what is certain would be the fact that if the Opposition takes power, Lee Hsien Loong, his former lawyer who is now Attorney General, his Election Department and his cronies are likely to face a similar fate as Najib Razak and his gang. While if the PAP continues to rule, Lee Hsien Loong will create a "Mentor Minister" or "Emeritus Senior Minister" position for himself, just so he can pull the strings from behind the scenes.

Collapse of Najib Bring fears into the PAP leadership

The fall of one dictator after another is bringing fear to the dictatorship in Singapore. The nearest Arab Spring to hit is just next door, Malaysia. People power had turn the tide against the despotic and corrupted BN which is very much following the mold of the PAP. Both uses GST to extort from the people, especially the poor, and both uses the LAW to cover their corruption as legitimate. One called it as Donation, whereas the other called it Salary.

As it became confirmed that Malaysia’s Najib Razak dictatorship was brought down, Singapore’s very own PAP dictatorship under Lee Hsien Loong has been struck by the fear that the same could happen in Singapore. The two leaders have too many similarities to begin with, from spending tens of billions of state funds without accountability, to having their wife dipping a hand into the national coffers.

Both countries have similar censorship laws, propaganda and even employ similar oppression methods; prior to the election, the then-opposition Mahatir Mohammad was charged with fabricating fake news.

Both actively practice nepotism and abuse legislation to consolidate their power. Each has their own friends and subordinates as Attorney Generals and their preferred judge and police commissioner. It is hence no surprise that Lee Hsien Loong is now taken aback. The Singapore Prime Minister is now asking himself why after all these authoritarian measures in place, the people could not be conditioned to support him.

In the past one year, Lee Hsien Loong raised a number of taxes including the GST that has angered the population. To pour salt on the wound, the two sovereign wealth fund companies GIC and Temasek Holdings have in recent years been reporting losses amounting to tens of billions. When CPF funds were made harder to withdraw through raising the Minimum Sum and Withdrawal Age, Singaporeans started linking the dots and came to the conclusion that the government must have lost the CPF funds in overseas gambles.

The nail in the coffin came when Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat admitted that Singapore is now in debt. It needs to borrow and make interest rate payments to finance the country. After decades of boasting about Singapore’s fiscal strength, the island state is now in debt under Lee Hsien Loong’s charge.

Propaganda fake news is now in full force though, making absurd claims that the borrowing is for the funding of “infrastructural upgrading”. However, such infrastructural spending is incorporated as the national Budget for any government in the world, even Australia. For example, if there is a need to spend S$15 billion for a new airport terminal, this should be included in the Budget under the transport ministry.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong also tried to sugarcoat the borrowing by claiming that the government is only borrowing from statutory boards and state-owned companies. This is however a fallacy because any surplus, unspent budget or profits from these entities naturally goes back to each year’s Budget. The fact remains that the government is debt-ridden, and now obligated to make interest rate payments. Furthermore, the borrowers – being state-owned – will have their earnings trimmed and return lesser to each year’s Budget. Just think of killing the goose that lay the golden eggs.

Some astute Singaporeans are clearly aware that Lee Hsien Loong has for years been putting Singapore on the wrong path and the country’s prosperity has been shortchanged by his policies. However, these people are still numbered as minorities, or at least 30%, based off the previous election result. The general foolish majority are contented being misinformed by propaganda.

Like Najib Razak, Lee Hsien Loong’s government thrived on the ignorance and fears of the people. Dumbing down Singaporeans is his election strategy, hence there is a need for a fake news law to establish the government as the arbiter of truth. How many of these 70% will start taking responsibility for the information they receive and come to their own conclusion? A good 20% is enough to unseat Lee Hsien Loong, and considering recent events there is no guarantee the PAP might rule again.

A Singaporean Woke Up to Find her HDB Flat is Worthless

Those who continue to sleep with PAP leaders will soon wake up to the reality of worthless HDB property they are holding on to. All their sweat and blood from years of toiling are now a piece of worthless concrete. Their CPF going missing in thin air.

In a rare admission by state media CNA yesterday (May 13), the 151st-ranking media published an article confirming that ageing HDB flats are now worthless with no interested buyer.

An owner of a 5-room HDB apartment in the central district of Ang Mo Kio was featured complaining that there is no buyer when she put it up for sale. She was unable to sell because her apartment is 37 years old now:

"We have all the necessary conveniences like coffee shops and wet markets nearby. It’s a really friendly neighbourhood with a cosy feel and it is also really convenient to get to town from here. Last year, when I approached a property agent with the intention of selling her flat, the response was poor. After realising that the lease of the house was reaching its 40-year mark, most buyers weren’t keen at all. They were afraid they might not be able to sell it off in the future. Even though the flat is spacious and opposite Bishan Park and near prestigious schools, no one wanted to buy."

The state media then reposted the comments of Minister Lawrence Wong, reminding Singaporeans that when the 99-year HDB lease is up, the property will be confiscated by the government. CNA also warned Singaporeans not to rely on En Bloc Redevelopment, because only 4% of the HDB flats due were selected.

There are currently about 70,000 HDB apartments that are more than 40 years old, and most of them are in Geylang, Jurong East and Queenstown. Real estate agents in these areas have reported a 20% losses in resale value for HDB owners.

The CEO of Institute of Estate Agents, Tracey Wong, also warned Singaporeans that HDB owners need to look at new CPF Withdrawal Limits to know how much CPF funds can be used to finance mortgages:

"We have to educate sellers of these older flats that with the Central Provident Fund (CPF) Withdrawal Limit imposed, younger buyers are no longer keen. We then ask the sellers to be more realistic in their sale price in order to attract buyers. The CPF Withdrawal Limit places a cap on how much a buyer can tap on his CPF for property purchases. The shorter the lease of a flat, the less CPF can be used."

The CPF Withdrawal Limits demands that Singaporeans buying resale flats to pay mortgages in cash for any excess above official valuation. For example, if a resale flat is valued at S$400,000 but it's sale price is S$450,000 (common for flats in mature estates), only S$400,000 from the CPF can be used inclusive of the deposit. The remaining S$50,000 will need to be paid in cash, unless one meets the Basic Retirement Sum of S$90,500 (half of Full Retirement Sum). The only problem is that the Retirement Sum increases about 5% each year, making it harder for CPF owners to fulfil it (CPF interest rates pays only 2.5%).

Just last month, a government university academic called for Singaporeans to be banned from using their CPF money to pay for HDB mortgages, and to fork out only in cash. The "test balloon" was met with ferocious opposition from Singaporeans, with many condemning the government for making home ownership impossible.
