The Gini co-eeficient has become more and more unfavourable, this is
not surprising at all. Even our fucked up neighbours like Indonesia
has better Gini co-efficient.

  1. The divide between the rich and poor is more interesting. How do the poorest compare with the richest?

    In places like the US and perhaps even Indonesia- an apt comparison because the populations of the two countries are comparable the divide is even greater.

  2. Hong Kong, once known as the most capitalistic country in the world, might be doing a bit better since it was handed over to the PRC-- which Party can be expected to hand out more social welfare to the poor and needy.
